What Satire is NOT

Writing tips

  1. Know your target — effective satire requires deep understanding of what you're critiquing.
  2. Exaggeration should illuminate, not obscure — push reality far enough to expose it, not so far it's unrecognizable.
  3. Irony works best when the surface reads straight but the subtext is devastating.
  4. Give your satirical world internal consistency — the absurdity should follow its own logic.
